Why did Travis Lee retire from baseball?

Travis Lee was a solid if unspectacular first baseman who played in the MLB from 1998 to 2006. An original Diamondback, Lee was the team's starting first baseman during their inaugural season, and recorded the franchise's first hit and home run. After stints with the Phillies, Devil Rays and Yankees, Travis Lee signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals in 2007, but retired towards the end of spring training, having lost interest in playing the game. It was somewhat of a surprise, as he was only 31 years old at the time and had enough talent to stick around. Lee finished his career with a .256 batting average and 115 home runs.
