Where does the name Adidas come from?

The footwear company Adidas is named after its founder, Adolf "Adi" Dassler. Prior to the creation of Adidas, Dassler and his older brother Rudolf founded the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory in 1924. After a falling out between the two brothers in 1947, Rudolf left to create a new company named Ruda, similarly named after himself, which was later renamed to Puma. Despite popular belief, Adidas does not stand for "All Day I Dream About Sports."
