Can green tea extract help weight loss?

Green tea and green tea extract has a lot of tea benefits, and one claim is that it can help with weight loss or maintenance. This is due to green tea's high caffeine and catechin content, both of which are believed to speed up energy metabolism, therefore leading to weight loss. Despite this however, a study shows that green tea's ability to cause weight loss seems false, or insignificant at best.
