NYC neighborhood acronyms

New York City has lots of acronyms, abbreviations and portmanteaus for various neighborhoods and areas. Here's some of them:

BoCoCa - Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens

DUMBO - Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass

FiDi - Financial District

HoHo - North of Houston Street

NoLIta - North of Little Italy

NoMa - North of Manhattan
A name for the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Not commonly used.

NoMad - North of Madison Square Park

ParkWanus - Park Slope and Gowanus

PLG - Prospect Lefferts Gardens

ProCro - Prospect Heights, Crown Heights
Created by developers to reference the quickly gentrifying area of western Crown Heights (AKA "the safe part of Crown Heights") that borders Prospect Heights

RAMBO - Right Around the Manhattan Bridge Overpass

SoBro - South Bronx
Used by developers for the ongoing gentrification attempts in south Bronx

SoHo - South of Houston Street

SpaHa - Spanish Harlem
In reference to East Harlem, which is also known as Spanish Harlem.

TriBeCa - Triangle Below Canal Street

WiNo - Williamsburg North
